  • The hours between 3-6pm are when kids are most likely to smoke cigarettes or try drugs.

  • Kids involved in after school activities are half as likely to drop out of school.
  • 500 Club members provide thousands of hours of community service last year.
  • Most juvenile assaults happen between 3-4pm.
  • When school lets out, victimization of children triples.
  • We provide academic support to over 1,200 kids each year.
  • We provide health & life skills programs to over 1,300 kids each year.
  • We provide arts programs to over 1,000 kids each year.

  • Over 2,500 kids participated in sports, fitness, & recreation programs each year.

  • Nearly 200 youth learned skills to keep them safe at home and in their neighborhoods.
  • While Salt Lake County’s ethnic population is around 14%, 54% of Club members are considered ethnic minorities.
  • 43% of our members come from single parent households.
  • 1 in 5 children receives a sexual solicitation over the internet in a given year. We provided NetSmartz, an internet safety program, to 300 youth last year.
  • Last year over 300 youth learned oral hygiene skills and received new toothbrushes.
  • Last year nearly 300 teenagers participated in Leaders In Training, a job training through volunteerism program.
  • The rate for juvenile crime peaks in the after-school hours. Children are also at a much greater risk of being the victim of a violent crime.
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake provide safe and nurturing environments to over 8,000 members each year.
