We are excited to announce that Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake is celebrating its 40th year of changing the lives of young people in Salt Lake City and surrounding areas. What began in a small, converted home in Sugar House in 1968 has become a proud legacy of reaching out to some of the most underserved children in our community while making a powerful and positive difference in their young lives.

Moving into our fifth decade of service, our Clubs are absolutely booming! Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake is now providing quality programs and core services to nearly 9,000 youth members every year. We have grown from that little house off 9th East, with 100 boys, to serving nearly 800 kids every day in our five Clubs: Sugar House, Capitol West, Lied, Tooele and Park City.

Throughout our history we have seen hundreds of kids’ lives change for the better and now we have the results of a nationwide study to confirm what we’ve always known. According to a 2007 National Harris Survey, Boys & Girls Clubs have an immediate and long-lasting impact on their alumni.

67% say the Club is where they learned how to "say no" to drugs and alcohol
28% of alumni report they would have dropped out of high school if not for the Club
51% achieved a higher level of education than they thought possible because of attending the Club
57% of alumni said the Club saved their life. (Up 5% from 1999 survey)

These compelling outcomes, as well as the many stories and moments that can only be measured by the heart, are what inspire us in our 40th year of service. We are very fortunate to thrive in communities that support the Boys & Girls Club Movement and have people like you who are deeply invested in making a difference in the lives of our kids.
